Cultivating tastes with Slow Food in Switzerland

Preserve local endangered foods and defend gastronomic traditions: that’s the mission undertaken by Slow Food, an international network present in 150 countries with more than 100 000 members. PUR Projet has initiated a partnership with Slow Food Switzerland to develop a planting project with Swiss farmers and  enhance regional crops and products. In 2016, AccorHotels will finance 5,000 trees in the cantons of Vaud and Fribourg in Switzerland.

The project will promote agroforestry practices amongst farmers, as well as raising awareness on the need for an integrated management of the landscape. Add to that, some complementary activities are proposed:

– plantation of productive fruit trees (apples, nuts, hazelnuts, pears…) in order to conserve local traditions such as nut oil and cider production

– plantation of productive low and medium stem height species together with non-productive species

– valorization of local products from farmers participants in the local market

– continuous training for Food&Beverages managers on sustainable sourcing and agroforestry.
