This year, in order to support the agroecological transition in France, and give back to the tree the place it deserves in our farming systems, AccorHotels, via its Plant For the Planet reforestation and agroforestry program, partners with the Fermes d’Avenir association and PUR Projet to launch Arbres d’Avenir (“Trees for the Future”), the first national contest for agroforestry in France.
Arbres d’Avenir is open to any farmer willing to participate in the agroecological transition and integrate trees into his farming system. The call for project proposals is open here, until September 15th.
25 projets will be selected and will receive an average amount of € 5,000.
Three special prizes will also be awarded:
- the Insetting award, rewarding a project that could offer a supply opportunity (fruits, vegetables and agricultural by-products) to the hotels of AccorHotels network.
- the Innovation award, rewarding an original and innovative project (new supply chains, new products, pooling of resources, new tools, production techniques, governance …)
- the Budding farmer award, rewarding an original and innovative project led by a young farmer under the age of 35.
3 finalists will be selected by the jury for each of these special prices. Winners will be chosen by public vote via the Blue Bees platform. Each finalist will win an endowment of 7,500 €, the 3 winning projects an endowment of € 10,000.
A crowdfunding campaign will also be held on Blue Bees, after selection of the winners, in order to provide these three projects with additional funding .
The contest is expected to fund 50,000 trees.
The Arbres d’Avenir contest is part of the AccorHotels Plant For the Planet program, developed with PUR Projet, and which has allowed to fund the planting of more than 4.5 million of trees since 2009, in 150 sites in 25 countries worldwide.
